Three people were killed, and five others were injured in a tragic road accident in Santhia Upazila, Pabna, early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM on December 27 at Rangamati on the Santhia-Madhpur road.
Santhia Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), Abdul Latif, confirmed the incident to local media. The deceased were identified as Khokon (27), son of Altaf from Rangamati village; Dhoni (50), son of Najimuddin from Shondoh village; and Russell (27), son of Saeed from the same village. The injured were promptly rescued by locals and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to police reports, the victims, who were agricultural laborers, were traveling in a locally made vehicle called "Karimon" to plant onions in a different area. As they approached the Rangamati area, a Santhia-bound goods-laden truck collided with their vehicle, killing three of the passengers on the spot. Authorities have recovered the bodies, and legal proceedings are underway.
The tragic accident has brought grief to the local communities, as the deceased were known as hardworking individuals contributing to their families' livelihoods. The injured are currently receiving medical care, and authorities are working to investigate the circumstances leading to the collision.
