Dhaka, 18 November: Twelve students of Government Titumir College have begun an indefinite hunger strike at the Secretariat, demanding the formation of a commission to convert Titumir College into a university. The students initiated their hunger strike on Monday evening, refusing to end it until their demand is met.

Earlier in the day, around 2,000 students from the college staged protests by blocking roads and railways in the Mohakhali area. The students formed a procession from the college campus, which later halted at the Mohakhali rail crossing around 11:30 AM.

In response to the growing unrest, police were deployed at the protest site to maintain law and order. The students have stated that they will continue their movement until representatives from the Ministry of Education visit the site for discussions. They demand a meeting with the officials to discuss their demand for the recognition of Titumir College as a university and the establishment of a Titumir University Commission.

The students have been voicing this demand for several months, holding multiple protests, roadblocks, and demonstrations to call for the conversion of Titumir College into a university.
