A gang of 10-11 robbers arrived in a microbus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at the entrance area of Savar Upazila from Manikganj. They tied up the driver and helper, left them by the roadside, and looted a truck loaded with 22 tons of rice (Jessore No. 11-5915).

In the early hours of Wednesday (March 19, 2025), the truck loaded with 22 tons of rice was rescued by Sergeant Mohammad Hasanat of the Darussalam Zone of Mirpur Traffic Division, along with accompanying forces, near the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Rayerbazar under Mohammadpur Police Station. Upon noticing the police presence, the gang members fled the scene.

Police reported that based on information from TI Admin Mahfuz of Darussalam Zone, a truck loaded with rice was looted and initially stationed at Naboday Housing via Gabtali Bypass. Sergeant Mohammad Hasanat and his team searched every alley but could not locate it. Later, they identified the truck near the main gate of the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Rayerbazar, bearing the number Jessore No. 11-5915. Sergeant Mohammad Hasanat collected CCTV footage from the memorial's control room, which showed four individuals leaving the truck. He informed Mohammadpur Police Station. After nearly three hours, the driver and helper arrived unharmed and identified the truck. Their statements were recorded, and SI Nasim of Mohammadpur Police Station took custody of the truck, goods, driver, and helper.

SI Nasim of Mohammadpur Police Station stated that upon receiving a call from the police control room, Sergeant Mohammad Hasanat of Darussalam Zone and his team rescued the truck loaded with 22 tons of rice, along with the driver and helper. The truck has been seized and kept at the police station under a GD entry. The truck was looted from the Savar Police Station area. The owner of the truck will file a case or GD at Savar Police Station and retrieve the vehicle from us.
