Veteran actress Anjana Rahman, whose career spanned several decades, passed away on Friday night at 1:10 AM. She was undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka when she breathed her last. The news of her death was confirmed by Misha Sawdagar, the President of the Artists' Association. Anjana's funeral will take place at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) at noon on Saturday.

Anjana had been battling illness for the past three weeks. Her health deteriorated after she initially experienced fever, which did not subside even with medication. Doctors later discovered a blood infection, prompting her transfer to a private hospital in the capital where she was kept in the ICU. Despite treatment, her condition did not improve significantly. On Wednesday, Anjana was transferred to Bangabandhu Medical University, where her condition worsened, and she was placed on life support. Her condition fluctuated, but she ultimately succumbed to her illness.

Anjana Rahman began her acting career in 1976 with the film Setu, directed by Babul Chowdhury. That same year, she starred in her first released film, Dasyu Banhoor, where she was paired with actor Sohel Rana. Dasyu Banhoor became a milestone in her career, establishing her as a prominent actress in the Bengali film industry.

Throughout her career, Anjana appeared in numerous successful films such as Mati'r Maya, Ashikkhito, Chokher Moni, Sukher Songshar, Jinjir, Anshidar, Anarkali, Bicharpotro, Aladdin Alibaba Sindbad, Abhijan, Mohan, Rajar Raja, Bishforon, Fuleshwari, Ram Rahim Jan, Nagina, Parinita, and many others, all of which were commercially successful.

Anjana's contributions to Bengali cinema were significant, and her legacy as one of the most beloved actresses in the industry will be remembered for years to come.
