A three-member investigation committee has been formed to look into allegations of misconduct by recently removed Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ashraf Uddin. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the order on Sunday to verify the authenticity of his alleged breach of discipline.
The committee is headed by Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed, with Joint Secretary Md. Nurul Haque from the Ministry of Public Administration as a member. A Joint Secretary from the Cabinet Division will serve as the member secretary.
Ashraf Uddin was withdrawn from his position and made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) on Saturday, a day after explicit photos and videos involving him surfaced on social media Thursday night.
On Sunday morning, Ashraf Uddin officially handed over his responsibilities. Deputy Director of the Local Government Division, Md. Wahid Hossain, has taken over as acting Deputy Commissioner.
Wahid Hossain stated that the former DC did not visit the DC office or his official residence but handed over his duties from a different location in Shariatpur.
