Yasin Ferdous Murad, President of Dhaka District Youth League, has stated that while Bangladesh is free from autocracy, true democracy has yet to be restored. He urged everyone to remain patient, courageous, and peaceful in their efforts to reclaim democratic rights. Murad made these remarks during separate iftar gatherings organized by the BNP and its associate organizations in Bhaishakanda and Jadabpur unions of Dhamrai on Wednesday.

Murad criticized the current government, accusing it of destroying democracy by revoking the caretaker government system from the constitution and stripping people of their voting rights. He emphasized that no fair elections have been held in the country over the past 16 years, and the people are now eager to exercise their right to vote. He called on the government to allow free and fair elections to restore democratic practices.

He also warned that remnants of the autocratic regime are still embedded in state institutions, conspiring against the nation and its people. Murad stressed the need for unity to confront these conspirators and protect the country's future.

Highlighting the importance of empowering the youth, Murad emphasized the need to strengthen their economic foundation to shield them from social and political decay. He advocated for creating business and employment opportunities to make the youth self-reliant and resilient against corruption and degradation.

The iftar in Bhaishakanda was presided over by Labib Uddin, President of Ward No. 4 BNP, while the Jadabpur event was chaired by Altaf Hossain. Both gatherings were attended by prominent local leaders and activists, reflecting a united front in the struggle for democracy and justice.
