A gunshot-wounded Indian smuggler was arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after crossing the Kasba border in Brahmanbaria. The arrest took place on Monday, May 5, as confirmed by the media wing of the BGB.

The arrested individual has been identified as Sujan Barman. According to a statement issued by the BGB’s media branch, the smuggler crossed into Bangladesh with the assistance of a syndicate on Sunday night, entering through the Kasba border. Intelligence operations and increased surveillance by BGB led to the discovery of the smuggler's location.

The BGB patrol team located the wounded individual at a hospital in Mogbazar, Dhaka, where he had been receiving treatment. He was detained on Monday afternoon.

BGB spokesperson Shariful Islam confirmed that following his arrest, the smuggler was handed over to the local police for further action.

The arrested smuggler, Sujan Barman, hails from the village of Battali, Agartala, India. His father’s name is Mongol Barman.

This operation highlights the continuous efforts of the BGB to maintain border security and curb smuggling activities along the Bangladesh-India border.
