Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Qatar for accepting the proposal to deploy 725 personnel from various branches of the Bangladesh Armed Forces to serve in the Qatari Armed Forces on deputation.
The appreciation was conveyed during a meeting between Dr. Yunus and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 23, on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha. The press wing of the Chief Advisor confirmed the development through an official statement.
During the meeting, Dr. Yunus emphasized that this unique cooperation initiative will be mutually beneficial for both nations. He expressed optimism that the deployment will enhance professional collaboration between the two armed forces and further solidify the relationship between the people of Bangladesh and Qatar.
He assured the Qatari side that the discipline, professionalism, and three decades of experience held by Bangladesh's armed forces in United Nations peacekeeping missions will contribute positively to Qatar’s military system.
Dr. Yunus further stated his belief that this strategic arrangement would not only pave the way for new avenues of defense cooperation but also create a foundation for strengthening people-to-people ties in the future.
The meeting reflects a growing trend of collaboration between the two nations, particularly in the areas of defense and manpower development, aligning with broader diplomatic and economic engagement.
