In a decisive move to uphold academic integrity, five Dakhil examinees were temporarily expelled and four invigilating teachers relieved of duty at an examination center in Kachua upazila of Chandpur district. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22, during the Bangla second paper examination held at the Nischintapur DS Kamil Madrasah center.

The students were expelled on charges of adopting unfair means during the examination. At the same time, four room invigilators responsible for overseeing the exam process were removed from all examination duties due to allegations of either aiding the malpractice or negligence in their responsibilities.

The expelled examinees have been identified as Shamima Afrin and Tamanna Akter, students of Nischintapur DS Kamil Madrasah; Gazi Md. Zahid Hossain and Arman Hossain from Tetoia Dakhil Madrasah; and Gazi Ikra Akter, a student of Komorkasha Jamalia Islamia Dakhil Madrasah.

According to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Kachua, Md. Helal Chowdhury, the expulsions and disciplinary removals were carried out following confirmed reports of examination malpractice. He stressed that the local administration is maintaining strict vigilance across all examination centers to ensure a fair and cheat-free exam environment.

Chowdhury further stated that any violation of exam regulations will result in immediate action, without exception. The administration’s goal, he reiterated, is to enforce accountability and transparency in all aspects of the Dakhil examination process.

This recent development is part of a broader effort by education authorities to combat academic dishonesty and reinforce the credibility of public examinations in Bangladesh. The measures taken have sent a strong message that neither students nor staff will be spared if found violating examination protocols.

Such incidents, while not uncommon, reflect the ongoing challenges in maintaining the integrity of the national exam system. Local education officials have confirmed that further investigations are underway, and additional measures may be implemented to prevent recurrence of such acts in future examination sessions.

Parents, education advocates, and community members have expressed both concern and support following the incident. While many have condemned the act of cheating, they have also called for a more robust support system within schools and madrasahs to discourage students from resorting to dishonest practices.

Meanwhile, education authorities have assured that replacement invigilators will be appointed promptly to avoid disruption in the ongoing Dakhil examination schedule. They have also emphasized training and awareness programs for both students and teachers regarding the ethical standards expected during national exams.

The incident underscores the importance of continuous monitoring and the necessity for stronger institutional discipline, especially during high-stakes examinations. As Bangladesh continues to reform its education sector, actions such as these highlight the ongoing commitment to fair academic practices and the broader goal of educational development across all regions.
