Bangladesh cricket is currently facing internal unrest following the two-match suspension of Towhid Hridoy during the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Amid growing concerns and speculations, it has been confirmed that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruk Ahmed will meet with senior cricketers, including Tamim Iqbal, to address the issue.

On Friday morning, cricketers began gathering at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Their arrival, led by former ODI captain Tamim Iqbal around 11:00 AM, marked the beginning of a series of behind-the-scenes discussions. Other senior players including Mahmudullah Riyad, Mustafizur Rahman, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Naim Sheikh, and Shariful Islam also joined the meeting, which took place at the academy building within the stadium premises.

Reports indicate that the cricketers engaged in a prolonged discussion regarding the suspension of Hridoy and its implications for the league and overall team morale. It has also been confirmed that following the Jummah prayer break, BCB President Faruk Ahmed is set to join the players for a formal meeting. This development has added significant weight to the day’s events, signaling the board’s willingness to hear the players’ concerns firsthand.

In addition, Iftikhar Rahman Mithu, the Chairman of the Umpires Committee, is also expected to be present during the meeting. His involvement suggests that the discussion may touch on the officiating standards and decisions that led to Hridoy’s controversial suspension.

Following the meeting with the BCB President, Tamim Iqbal may address the media to share the players' views and responses regarding the recent incidents involving Towhid Hridoy. It is worth noting that before his recent heart condition, Tamim was the captain of the Mohammedan Sporting Club, a role that was later taken over by Hridoy.

The gathering of such high-profile cricketers and top board officials indicates that the issue has escalated beyond the DPL and now carries broader implications for player-board relations in Bangladesh cricket. The outcome of today’s meeting could be crucial in determining the course of action for not only Hridoy’s case but also for restoring unity within the cricketing community.
