Bangladesh Women scripted a memorable victory in their second match of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, defeating Ireland in a dramatic run chase led by Ritu Moni’s maiden international half-century. Chasing a challenging target of 236, the team found themselves under immense pressure after collapsing to 94 for 5. However, Ritu Moni anchored the innings with poise and resilience, guiding her side to a record-breaking win with two wickets in hand.

The pressure was mounting as Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals, and by the halfway mark, the required run rate had begun to climb. With only two wickets remaining and 50 runs needed from the last 41 balls, Bangladesh faced a daunting task. Yet, Ritu remained calm at the crease, forging crucial partnerships with the lower order to gradually chip away at the target.

Ritu Moni’s composed innings not only stabilized the chase but also turned the momentum in Bangladesh's favor. Her first-ever international fifty came at a crucial moment, providing the team with the belief and momentum they needed to pull off the highest successful run chase in the history of Bangladesh Women’s cricket.

The team reached the target with eight balls to spare, marking their highest successful run chase in One Day Internationals. This remarkable achievement has set a new benchmark for the women’s side, showcasing their grit and ability to recover from tough situations under pressure.

With this victory, Bangladesh has now won both of their matches in the tournament, earning a total of four points. They currently sit at the top of the group table under the leadership of captain Nigar Sultana Joty, who has guided the team with consistency and determination throughout the competition.

Bangladesh’s performance in this qualifier has demonstrated not just their growing strength as a unit, but also the emergence of key performers like Ritu Moni, who rose to the occasion when it mattered most. The victory will be remembered as a defining moment for the side, further boosting their confidence as they move forward in the tournament with hopes of securing a spot in the ICC Women’s World Cup.
