"Four Female Members of Banned Hizb ut-Tahrir Detained in Jajira"

Shariatpur, March 20: Four female members of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir were detained by locals in Jajira and later handed over to the police. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near Kazir Hat in Dubaisaybar Bazar area of the upazila.

The detained women have been identified as Mitu Akter (25), wife of Suman Ahmed from Tulasar in Shariatpur Sadar Upazila; Tama Rahman (18), wife of Mostakin Hossain Miraj; Doli Akter (19), daughter of Rezaul Sardar from West Sonamukhi; and Maksuda Begum (40), wife of Amjad Hossain from Nosashon in Naria Upazila.

According to sources, the women were distributing leaflets and books of the banned organization in the Kazir Hat area. When locals noticed their activities, they intervened and detained the women before informing the police.

Local resident Mahbubur Rahman Zia stated, "These women were selling books and leaflets of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is completely prohibited. The public detained them and informed me, after which I alerted the police."

Jajira Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Dulal Akand confirmed the incident, stating, "The four women were brought to the police station. After obtaining a written agreement, they were released into the custody of their guardians."

The incident has drawn attention to the ongoing efforts to curb the activities of banned organizations in the region. Authorities continue to monitor such activities closely to maintain public safety and order.
