In a series of counter-terrorism operations across three provinces in Pakistan, 16 people were killed, including four members of the law enforcement agencies. The operations, conducted over the weekend in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Punjab, targeted militants involved in various acts of violence. The dead included two army personnel and several militants, while others were wounded in the intense clashes.

According to local media, the operations took place in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, Balochistan, and Punjab provinces. One of the major operations occurred in Bannu District's Bakahel area, where a well-coordinated intelligence-based raid led to the deaths of five militants and the injuries of nine others. During this operation, 29-year-old Sepoy Iftikhar Hussain, a member of the Pakistan Army, was killed.

Another raid in the Khyber District's Shagai area resulted in the deaths of three militants and the arrest of two others. The military's media wing, ISPR, confirmed that during this operation, Captain Muhammad Zoyabuddin, aged 25, lost his life while leading the team.

Local sources reported that one of the killed militants in Khyber was involved in the murder of journalist Khalil Zibran. In a separate incident in the Lakki Marwat district, terrorists launched a midnight attack on a police station in the Dara Pezu area. The attack led to a one-hour gun battle, in which Constable Kiramatullah was killed. However, the police successfully repelled the attackers.

In Punjab’s Mianwali district, another terrorist attack occurred at the Chapri Police Station, where four people were killed. Authorities stated that approximately 20 militants, armed with rocket launchers and grenades, carried out the assault. The ensuing hour-long firefight resulted in the deaths of four militants, and their bodies were later recovered. Additionally, in the Mardan district, an attack on a police van led to the death of ASI Mir Gulam Marwat, while two others were critically injured.

In Balochistan’s Sherani District, four militants were killed during a counter-terrorism operation. Authorities revealed that these militants had crossed over from Afghanistan and were affiliated with a banned militant group. Several others were also injured during the operation.

The Pakistani government highlighted that such operations play a crucial role in ensuring the security of the country, particularly in regions where militant groups have found strongholds. These operations are part of the ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and restore peace in the country, authorities said.

Pakistan's security forces have been engaged in a long-running battle against militants, particularly in the north-western tribal areas and Balochistan, where numerous insurgent groups have carried out attacks on both civilians and security personnel. The country has faced a rise in attacks from groups operating in the border regions, often crossing over from Afghanistan, and the government remains focused on combating such elements to safeguard national security.

These recent operations are seen as significant efforts to neutralize the growing threat of terrorism in Pakistan and to maintain stability across the nation.
