Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md. Delwar Hossain, met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, to discuss strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.
During the meeting on Tuesday (February 11), the ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the government and people of Bangladesh to the Saudi Minister. In response, the minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s strong ties with Bangladeshi citizens and expressed deep respect for Bangladesh.
The minister advised formulating an import-export plan between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. He instructed the ambassador to identify key Saudi importers and exporters, engage in detailed discussions with them, and identify both opportunities and obstacles in expanding bilateral trade. The discussion particularly focused on the potential of the seafood and agricultural product sectors.
Ambassador Delwar Hossain handed over a copy of the recently published Saudi-Bangladesh Economic Mapping report by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Saudi Minister of Commerce. The minister appreciated the initiative and stated that his ministry would conduct a thorough analysis of the report to determine how both nations could work together to implement its recommendations and strengthen economic relations.
The minister also urged the ambassador to engage with the Saudi Business Council and prepare a report outlining business challenges, opportunities, and demands from Bangladesh’s perspective. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh and assured assistance in resolving any economic or trade-related issues faced by the country.
The meeting reflected a strong commitment to enhancing economic cooperation, addressing trade challenges, and uncovering new opportunities between the two nations. Deputy Head of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy, S.M. Nazmul Hasan, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
