Interim Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, held a bilateral meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ongoing D-8 Summit, according to information released by the Chief Advisor's Press Wing.
Dr. Yunus traveled to Cairo on Wednesday to attend the D-8 Summit. The summit, hosted by the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation, is being held in the Egyptian capital to discuss matters of economic collaboration and shared development initiatives among member nations.
The D-8, established to enhance economic ties between eight developing countries, includes Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, and Turkey. This year’s summit has drawn leaders and representatives from member states to deliberate on strategies for fostering cooperation in trade, investment, and sustainable development.
Dr. Yunus, invited by Egypt to represent Bangladesh at the summit, participated in discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration within the organization. His meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, addressing topics of mutual interest to enhance economic and diplomatic ties.
