Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Tawhid Hossain emphasized the need for immediate initiation of the Rohingya repatriation process, stating that the international community must take action to ensure the safe return of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (FDMN), or Rohingyas, to their homeland in Rakhine State through a structured roadmap.
During a courtesy meeting with newly appointed Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryall at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Hossain highlighted the importance of international collaboration on this issue. The meeting also discussed mutual interests, including trade, investment, migration, and visa facilitation.
In response, High Commissioner Ryall assured that her government is ready to work with Bangladesh on the Rohingya crisis and pledged necessary support for their swift repatriation. Hossain also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between Bangladesh's Technical Training Centers (TTC) and Australia's Technical and Further Education (TAFE) to elevate the standard of technical education in Bangladesh, enabling skilled manpower to compete globally.
Hossain congratulated Ryall on her new role and assured her of Bangladesh's full support during her tenure.
