Kellogg stated that despite European countries being excluded from the direct peace talks, Ukraine would be present at the negotiation table. Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump held discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a rapid peace initiative in Kyiv, without prior consultation with European allies. This unexpected move has reportedly left European leaders surprised.

The Trump administration has communicated to European nations that they must ensure Ukraine’s security independently, as the U.S. is prioritizing other matters, including China and border security. While Washington desires active European participation in the broader process, further discussions are required to clarify the role and strategy of European countries.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, speaking at the Munich conference, asserted that no meaningful discussions about Ukraine’s future or European security could take place without European involvement. He urged European countries to unite and take decisive action.

European diplomats have voiced concerns that excluding Europe from these talks could generate dissatisfaction among European leadership. Many leaders worry about being left out of crucial decisions that will shape Ukraine’s future and impact European security.

According to reports from Al Jazeera, European leaders have expressed deep concerns over the lack of consultation, fearing that their exclusion could weaken their strategic influence and decision-making power in the region.
