Initially, Biden himself ran against Trump in this election. However, due to concerns within the Democratic Party regarding his age, Biden decided to step aside a few months prior to the election, paving the way for Vice President Kamala Harris to take on Trump as the Democratic candidate. Ultimately, Harris was unable to secure victory against Trump in this closely watched election.
