Former U.S. President Donald Trump has overturned a decision made by his predecessor, Joe Biden, regarding a halted shipment of hundreds of bombs to Israel. The shipment, weighing over a ton and comprising 1,800 bombs, was initially blocked by Biden in May of the previous year.
On Saturday, January 25, Trump announced the reversal on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “Much of it is on its way to Israel.” He explained that Israel had placed an order for various types of bombs and had already made payments for them. However, according to Trump, Biden's administration withheld the delivery. Trump’s post indicated that with the order now revoked, the bombs are being sent to Israel.
Earlier that same day, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin informed the Senate Appropriations Committee about concerns related to Rafah, which led to the temporary halt of an ammunition shipment to Israel. President Biden had also cited similar concerns when the shipment was initially blocked.
The decision to lift the suspension has sparked significant criticism, as it reignites debates over U.S. military support to Israel and its implications for regional stability.
